4 Important Makeup Tips for Your Wedding

First and foremost, makeup lays best on soft, clear skin. I know we mention this often, but it’s that important!  Facials will help with your overall complexion; acne, aging, and oily skin.

If you don’t already have a trusted esthetician, call Magda. She has over 15 years of experience and will help you lay out a facial regimen, depending on the needs of your skin. She also offers onsite facials for most  locations.

Once your skin is in good hands, we can talk wedding day makeup. We recommend scheduling a trial 6 months prior to your special day. Whether it’s with us or someone else, slots fill up fast, and we don’t want you to miss out on the artist your heart was set on.

Your makeup artist will be your beauty guru and will be there to help you every step of the way, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared with an idea of how you’d like to look. With that being said, we’ve come up with a list of 4 important things to keep in mind.

  1. Remember, you want to look like a better version of yourself for the wedding. This isn’t the time to try any crazy, over-the-top, makeup, it’s about looking timeless.
  2. You’ll want to accentuate your makeup more than an average day for a couple of reasons. First, you’ll be wearing all white, so you don’t want to appear bland. Second, the camera will blow you out and tone down your makeup. For your trial, wear a t-shirt that’s closest to the color of your dress. This gives you a chance to see how your makeup stands against the pale color. It’ll also help to take plenty of pictures, in natural light, if you can, to get an idea of how you’ll look in the photos.
  3. Talk to your makeup artist about your moisturizer. Some lotions may be too thick and cause you to have an oily appearance.
  4. Make sure your makeup compliments itself. If you’re wearing a bright red lipstick, keep your eyes more neutral and vice versa. One shouldn’t take away from the other, and you don’t want to appear overdone.

If you’re planning on doing your own makeup, remember these 4 important points…

  1. Don’t skimp. Professional products stay looking fresh longer. You have a long day ahead of you, you’ll want your makeup to make it to the end.
  2. Waterproof! Need I say more?
  3. Use a primer, it will help your foundation go on smoother and last longer. Same goes for your eyes. Using a primer on your eyelids will help keep your makeup from smudging.
  4. Practice, practice, practice.
